Firefox is the awesomely superior alternative to Internet Explorer 6. However, it's about on par with Internet Explorer 7 and Opera. It is known for being highly overpromoted. Some people [1] like to blame the Mozilla Corporation on this, however it's the "supporters" who are the real problem. They are cocky, stuck up, and all talk.

What THEY Promise

  • 999% security
  • faster browsing
  • lower System Requirements than Internet Explorer
  • no pop-ups whatsoever
  • bug free
  • 999% support for web standards
  • Eternal Life
  • tabbed browsing
  • your grandma will be saved
  • you get to take back the Web

What You Get

  • 75% - 80% security
  • higher System Requirements (unless you have like 20 MB of ram this shouldn't be a problem)
  • pop-up blocker that occasionally fails to block popups (which they all have anyway)
  • bugs (what sofware doesn't?)
  • 90% to 95% support for standards
  • questionable interpretations of standards (but more support than Internet Explorer)
  • extentable architecture and stuff
  • tabbed browsing (see above)

What you get that IE7 and Opera don't already offer you

  • extensions

Propaganda

Firefox supporters like to waste their time spreading browser war propaganda. There are some pathetic, pimply-faced, maladjusted preteens of the Firefox Cult who drew some stupid pictures of some stupid girl furries, accompanied by the completely idiotic Firefox slogans (Take back the web!) and often lacking clothing, thinking that such pictures would gain support for the browser. However, the majority of the normal people of the Internet (even Firefox users) are embarrassed by the existence of such people.
